The team was founded in 1988 by Lucia Siguenza, Jose Lopez (coach) and Cathya E. Espinoza (general manager). By 1990, the club’s level of play had outgrown the league they were in and Vendaval SC decided to take on teams that are more competitive.
Lead by Jose López, coach, and Cathya Espinoza, general manager, the team has traveled and competed three times since the club was founded to Ecuador. With the support of the national Ecuadorian daily newspaper, El Universo. Vendaval WSC had the rare opportunity to compete against the country's top female soccer players. During the summer 2003, the club participated with the Women's Premier Soccer League.
Team General Information
The team's goal is to provide the best environmental for the players of all-levels of skill and ability. We are looking all-year-around quality or advance-level amateur soccer players. The purpose of this team is to promote and maintain the highest quality level of quality of amateur soccer competition for women. The fall season games start September 11, 2011 to December 11, 2011. During the fall season, we play every Sunday but we do not play Thanksgiving Day weekend. The spring season games start March 11, 2012 to June 17, 2012 but we do not play the Memorial Day weekend. The outdoor games, fall season and spring season, are mostly in Manhattan. The games are played in the regular field size 11v11, 2x45 minutes and every Sunday. Furthermore, in the winter season—Jan-Feb—the team plays indoor tournaments and during the summer (Jul-Aug). Join the Team The team roster is never full during the year due to injury or unexpected leave due to personal reasons therefore if you would like to be part of the team complete the new player form you find in the section "join our team.”
The League
The Women's League was founded on March 27, 1978. Our League is affiliated and comply with the authority of the Eastern New York State Soccer Association (ENYSSA); United State Adult Soccer Association (USASA); and the United States Soccer Federation.
